Friends Only [Aug. 8th, 2008|04:34 pm]
[mood |amusedamused]

So, I should probably point out that I post primarily in friends-only mode. If you aren't on that list, but for some reason want to be, tell me. If I know you and like you (that second bit is very important), I'll probably add you.

Inaction in boy's killing called justified

Wait...WHAT?

There is no possible justification for standing by and watching while a child is beaten to death unless you are so physically disabled that you are incapable of assisting in stopping the situation.

These people should not be apologized for, they should be ashamed of themselves and their self centered, reprehensible lack of active involvement that contributed to the death of that child.

Refusing to choose is still a choice, kimosabe. This is a choice that the people who stood by and allowed this to happen deserve to have nightmares about for the rest of their lives.

...

Fuckers.

So...anyone know where I can get my hands on some of the pictures from the Treagus Halloween party?

I was in some of the later-evening DC group pictures and I'd love to see how they turned out,

1-800-GENOCIDE [Jul. 12th, 2007|09:03 am]

Doin' my part to get the word out...

1-800-GenocideCollapse )

Yes folks, it's real, no hoax. It sounds like it should be a bad joke ("Call 1-800-genocide for all your genocide needs!") but it really, truly isn't. It's hell on earth, and the good ol' US of A is a silent observer, along with most of the rest of the world.

Please, take five minutes and the price of an 800 line call (free, for anyone that doesn't know) and make some noise for a people that do not have the ability to speak for themselves.
Their WEBSITE is also a good step.

That said, in the name of full disclosure I should say that genocide sparks a very personal chord for me. The number of times and ways that the people of my blood have been subjected to attempted genocide are legion.

Red Meat Does A Body GoodCollapse )

I've realized that I'll have to wait on my Mass Meat Purchase(tm)till the spring to get what I want, but things like this remind me of why it's so very necessary.

"The Omnivore's Dilemma", by the way, is an amazing book.

Overfishing May Harm Seafood PopulationCollapse )
"If current trends of overfishing and pollution continue, the populations of just about all seafood face collapse by 2048..."

Which, for many of us, is well within our projected lifespan.

Quick! Everyone eat as much seafood as you can! It's going to run out anyway...no point in saving anything for the next generation! We'll have killed it all off by then!

Humanity is a malignant, fast spreading cancer on this world we call home...and most of us haven't even figured that out yet.

Preschool Puberty, and a Search for the CausesCollapse )
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other then thinking that the tea tree/lavender E.O.'s connection is absolute bullshit, I think this is a pretty interesting article.
Most of this is information has been around for many years - the fact the humans are sensitive to hormones and hormone-like substances in the environment and in ingested form isn't exactly a new idea, nor is the science that shows that they build up in the body over time. What this article illustrates is only a small part of this problem...but then, if an actual mainstream publication featured an in-depth review of something like that they'd probably face a whole slew of lawsuits from the pharmaceuticals industry.
And none of them wants to tell the truth (or have the truth be told) if it will cost them.
